01Overview

What creative thinking is needed, its role in the strategy, and what success looks like.

What kind of creative thinking is needed at this stage (idea generation, platform, territory, executional expression)?
What role should the creative idea play within the wider strategy?
What does success look like for the creative output at a high level?

Prompts to pressure-test

  • Is this creative intended to be a single idea or a flexible system?
  • Are there any known boundaries we must respect without prescribing solutions?
02Objective

What the idea should enable, the change it drives, and how people should think or act differently.

What should this creative idea enable or unlock?
What change should the creative idea help bring about for the audience?
What should the idea make people feel, think, or do differently?

Prompts to pressure-test

  • How will you recognise a strong idea when you see it?
  • Are there any signals that would suggest an idea is off-strategy?
03Audience

Who the idea is for, the tension it responds to, and the mindset they meet it in.

Who is the creative idea ultimately for?
What tension, motivation, or insight about this audience should the creative respond to?
In what context or mindset is the audience likely to encounter the idea?

Prompts to pressure-test

  • Are there any audience sensitivities we should be aware of without steering the idea?
  • Does the creative need to work across multiple audiences or interpretations?
04Deliverables

The level of creative output expected, how it will be used, and how far it must scale.

What level of creative output is expected at this stage (idea, platform, territories, exploratory concepts)?
Is this creative intended to inspire execution, or directly inform production?
Does the creative need to scale across channels, formats, or moments?

Prompts to pressure-test

  • Are there any downstream outputs this creative must eventually enable?
  • Are there any known exclusions or constraints that should not shape the idea itself?
05Timeline & Risks

The moments it should be mindful of, its shelf life, and the tensions to hold.

Are there any contextual moments or external factors the creative should be mindful of without chasing?
Does the creative need to hold relevance over time or respond to a specific window?
Are there any known tensions between ambition and feasibility we should be conscious of?

Prompts to pressure-test

  • What is the biggest risk to the creative idea landing as intended?
  • If pressure is applied later, what aspects of the idea should remain protected?

This template shapes the brief. It cannot score it.

A structure gets the right questions asked. It does not tell you whether the answers hold up. iQ reads the completed brief, scores its clarity, and flags what is still missing or unclear. Weak briefs are caught here, not three weeks into delivery.
